What’s not to love about guests like Rose? She blew in like a breath of fresh air on her way from point A to Point B down South and graced us with her presence for an evening while she rested for the night. Her laughter and peaceful demeanor made us all feel a little less stressed during these busy pre-Christmas days when there’s not time to sit and drink a cup of tea – too much to get done! One more gift to purchase, one more shop to check, one more cookie to bake and did I mention that there’s another little get-together across town at which, we’re supposed to make an appearance….
We do it to ourselves every Christmas, promising that next year will be different, we’ll be better prepared, do less, focus more on Jesus, the reason for the season and not on the gifts and the glitter. But then we forget, and get ourselves all in a tizzy again…. But not Rose – she arrived when she’d said she would arrive and left about the time she estimated. I’m sure she’ll get to her destination down South on time too, in her unhurried fashion. She made a plan, and her plan included a relaxing evening in a lovely bed and breakfast (ours!), a cup of tea admiring the Christmas lights in the front garden, and a nice dinner at a local restaurant.
When I grow up, I want to be Rose. Don’t you?
