Bill and Linda, two of our favourite guests!
Although, I suppose one could say that about lots of our guests, because they all become our “favourites” after a few years.
It is to our mutual advantage – we love getting to know our guests (this particular couple come to visit their family and attend their high school’s sports events) and our regular guests love having a familiar place (and face) to stay when they come to Tallahasee. After 16 years as a real innkeeper, I’ve met some of the most wonderful people – even some famous ones. But what I’ve learned is that people are people – they’re all tired at the end of a day traveling or working. They all have loved ones they want to be with, and want to get home to. They all appreciate another human being who cares enough to engage with them in a real way. Each human being, created in the image of God, is worthy of respect and dignity and a few minutes of our time, and not be treated like a number. After all, who amongst us actually likes to hear “Next!” after we’ve had contact with another person (or to feel like that’s their thought, even if they don’t actually say it out loud).
Love my job, love our guests!
