In heaven there are beloved dogs, and tea, lots of tea..
Thom and I have never been able to agree on the whereabouts of our beloved Sadie, who died 5 years ago.
I am convinced that she is in heaven, with Jesus, waiting for me. Not doggie heaven, or over the rainbow bridge, but actual heaven. Thom tells me that is impossible, unbiblical and totally incorrect.
He is, of course, wrong.
Sadie, my beloved canine companion for 15 years, is lying down with the lion and the lamb. She is likely still working the room, even though there are lots of rooms in my Father's house, tail a-wagging, animated and smiling (yes, Sadie smiled), making friends wherever she goes.
Thom tells me there's no need for canine companionship in heaven, like there's no need for spouses, no need for hospitals, tissues or even heels to make me look taller.
Which leads to another supposition of mine. Not only are there are dogs (but no cats, definitely no cats) there is TEA. There are teacups and saucers. There are teapots and kettles filled with scalding water. There are 2-tiered pedestals filled with bite sized pieces of cheesecake, battenburg and Mr. Kiplings cherry bakewells. But no cucumber sandwiches, definitely no soggy, cucumber sandwiches.
In heaven, there's a magnificent glassy sea before the royal throne, but no nipping crabs, touchy jellyfish, stingrays, slimy seaweed or sharks. Definitely no sharks. And there's tea. Lots and lots of tea.
Did I mention that already?
Needless to say, Thom doesn't agree with that part either. I tell him my version of heaven is mine (and biblical) and we can disagree. As long as we both know that I'm right.
