Being born and raised in London means we were spoiled at an early age as far as theatre was concerned. The West End of London has some of the best theatre in the world, as good as, if not better than New York's Broadway.
We've supported local theatre productions in Tallahassee and the surrounding area for decades. But I do love seeing a professional show when I'm in London.
This summer I managed to see Come From Away on Broadway in New York. It was my friend's choice and I gladly went along with it even though I was unfamiliar with the title.
It was terrific! The true story of a small town in Newfoundland that took in a bunch of people stranded on 9/11 when all the planes had to get out of the sky while President Bush and his team figured out what was happening. I remember that day well, If you get a chance to see this - even if it's a local production a few years from now - buy a ticket and go. An inspiring story about human beings, great music and fantastic acting.
I think I got my "fix" of professional theatre for the year. New York City is not cheap but it was a great, little adventure!
