We stumbled upon this British pub in the cozy little town of Mount Dora, north of Orlando.
With a rather peculiar name for a pub, Magical Meat Boutique, the British owner explains it all on the menu, if you're interested.
We found Mount Dora to be quite charming. Tucked away, as in off-the-beaten path, we wandered around the town enchanted with its unique, family owned shops and restaurants (no franchises to be found here, thankfully!). The train runs through the town, albeit very slowly, and it was fun to watch everything come to a standstill as people stopped to watch it - it made a lot of noise to warn everyone of it's arrival, so it's not as if you could miss it. There was a market going on the day we were there - jam packed with people who had come from the Orlando area to escape the manufactured atmosphere of the theme parks plus its crowds. Home-made candles, pickles, lots of fruit and vegetables, jewellery - there was a little something for everyone who were willing to take some time to meander the stalls and chat to the vendors.
A beautiful day to sit at an outdoor restaurant (or pub!), and eat good food, drink a cup of tea or a glass of cider and watch other people wandering around. This was a particularly refreshing little adventure away from the Little English Guesthouse. And the food was very British! I'm giving them a shameless plug because I want them to stay in business. This can often be hard to do in a culture of franchises and unlicensed, unregulated eating places accessible only by an app on a cell phone, what is the world coming to?
Do yourself a favour, take a little trip to Mount Dora and eat at this place, you'll be glad you did.
