FAQ

List of the most commonly asked

We’ve compiled a list of answers to common questions
1. What’s the difference between a bed and breakfast and an AirBnB?
A bed and breakfast is a legal business, with a public address, like a small hotel, with all the aspects legally required of a business. These include things like: city/state license, fire marshal inspections, working smoke detectors and fire extinguishers, commercial insurance, commercial website address, complimentary breakfast and so on. An AirBnB is not a business and not required to have any of these things. This can pose safety, security and health issues. There is usually no published address on most Air places as they are merely the home / building of a stranger that you agree to stay in, for a fee.
2. What’s the difference between a real bed and breakfast and a chain hotel?
Each of our rooms are individually decorated and named. Chain hotels do tend to have a “sameness” quality about all their numbered rooms. Real bed and breakfasts do not “nickel and dime” their guests, generally combining everything into one price, providing free parking, WIFI, snacks and beverages. There are no hidden “cleaning” “resort” or “amenities” fees when staying at a real bed and breakfast. Most real bed and breakfasts are run by the owners of the business, not an employee. Most bed and breakfasts only have 3-10 rooms and can therefore offer more privacy, safety, and sanitation than a hotel that is open to the general public at any hour of the day/night.
3. What time is check in/check out?
Like most small hotels check in is anytime after 4 pm and check out is by 11 am. A professional innkeeper resides on the premises, although there is no front desk manned 24 hours. For late arrivals, we ask you to just let us know your estimated time of arrival.
4. Do you allow pets?
We have many guests with allergies / fears, so at this time, we do not accept pets.
5. Do you allow children?
Children who are over the age of 12 years, well behaved and supervised are welcome. Many guests stay with us to have a quiet, romantic respite from their busy lives (and their children!). We also have lots of business travelers who enjoy being able to work in a quiet atmosphere. So we try to honor that desire for peace and quiet as much as possible. Also, our inn is not child-proof and not safe for younger children.
