A performance just for the Little English Guesthouse, no hotels invited!

Who knows what will appear in our conservatory on any given week?

We were blessed to have a lovely couple stay with us while on their road adventure. (I call them adventures because life’s too short not to make every road trip an adventure). This lovely lady, whom we’ll call J, brought this magnificent instrument into the inn. Leaving it in the car overnight with 100% humidity and rainstorms all week would have been a bad idea for the instrument. J is a performing artist and has performed at the Edinburgh Festival. She is a lady of many talents as she plays instruments as well as dances – did I tell you that we get the most WONDERFUL guests at the Little English Guesthouse?

We gave them all the privacy they needed, because that is one of the many reasons folks love staying with us. There are no people just wandering around a public lobby like in a chain hotel. There is no unnecessary noise coming from blaring loudspeakers or an overhead tannoy, just the peace and tranquility of a little, English , guesthouse.  From our living room, the exquisite sounds of  “Amazing Grace” on J’s harp filled not only our room, but the entire inn. We felt like we were guests at our own private performance from a renowned performer. Indeed, we were, because there were no other guests in that night to enjoy the divine music emanating from the conservatory.  I felt bad about that because I’m sure they would have found it as delightful as we did. Over the last 18 years, we’ve had all sorts of musicians stay with us, and they tell us they enjoy having  a little practice in the conservatory. Apparently they enjoy the acoustics in that room. I can’t honestly say whether the acoustics are any better than one of our guest rooms, as I have no musical talents of my own! I do know the sound is better than sitting in a cavernous lobby of a hotel surrounded by other people, who may be talking over the live music.

So when you’re planning your next road trip to Tallahassee, make sure to book a room at the Little English Guesthouse Bed and Breakfast. You never know what delights await you on any particular night…
