FSU is back in session in a fortnight and parents will be here next week getting their FSU child settled into new digs, stocking the fridge, buying the mundane things like shower curtains, pillowcases and coffemakers that every person needs to start a new life in a new place. Most will be muttering under their breath, “how does all this stuff cost hundreds of dollars?” when they finally get to the check out counter at Target or Walmart.
I know this because in the last 16 years, we’ve welcomed hundreds of those FSU parents to stay with us while they’re pushing their child out of the nest to fly, and shedding tears while they do it. It’s not an easy transition for most people. I remember my own mother crying (loudly!), when I left for university, eve as she was measuring my window so she could install a better window drape for me. Ah, fond memories…
If you’re an FSU parent and you’ve not found your own “nest” in Tallahassee, consider us your place to stay for the next four years when you’re here. You’ll be in good company with other FSU parents, who’ll be a wealth of information, and you’ll get a proper night’s rest after the emotionally and physically draining task of goodbye -ing.
Send this to an FSU parent and tell them to make their reservation, we’re filling up fast! www.LittleEnglishGuesthouse.com
