For British Royalty fans everywhere Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, made her first appearance after giving birth to their second child (Lillibet Diana, in case you forgot). She turned 40 and started a new program, called 40 x 40, to ask famous people to donate 40 minutes of their time to mentor women (I’m assuming 40 women – maybe just women over 40 – or maybe 40 women who are also over the age of 40?). Not just women in general, specifically women trying to get back into the workforce after a year of Covid induced job losses.
A noble cause indeed. And for Meghan-haters – it’s her birthday and she wasn’t throwing herself a big party, but using that moment in the spotlight to talk about other women in need of a job. A year after 2020, and we’re still dealing with COVID, job losses, to vaccinate-or-not, to mask-or-not debates – good golly Miss Molly, will it never end??
So if you’re famous in some way – an Olympian Gold medal winner, singer, dancer, actor, real innkeeper perhaps- and have 40 minutes to spare, consider mentoring a woman who might need a mentor, or even a bit of encouragement during a tough phase in life. In fact you don’t even need to log onto Meghan and Harry’s Archewell website to sign up. In my humble opinion, you don’t even need to be famous (or although I’m sure you certainly are famous in your circle of life). You can find someone in your world who needs your wisdom (you have some), your perspective (yours is valuable), your encouragement (you can find something positive to say), your 40 minutes out of your busy day. Just do it.
And Happy Birthday, Meghan, 40 looks good on you.
