This struck me recently as being a wonderful visual for life.
When we’re young, we just want to be older and cooler. When we get older, we discover we’re just not that cool!
We rush to get to the next level on our career path, only to find out being a workaholic is not the identity we really wanted.
We fail to appreciate and spend time with the people we claim to love, until they’re gone. Then the pain of grief, in its fit and starts and waves, or sometimes tsunami, take too long and we just want to be through the pain and on the other side…
This year…give yourself time. Put it in your daily planner to make sure it happens, after all you can manage to put other things in there to make sure you’re overscheduled, overcommitted and stressed out.
Make this year different. Schedule some time in for you. Time with the God you claim to love. Time with the spouse you claim to cherish. Time with the children you truly wanted. Time to drink a cup of tea (if you don’t have time for a cup of tea, you’re in real trouble!) with a beloved friend.
Because YOU, my friend, are worth it. You are enough. You deserve it. You don’t have to make up an excuse in your head for taking care of yourself. You are enough. Give yourself time. Start today.
