Smaller lodging establishments that are held to a legal standard of hygiene and safety are a better choice these days than places that have no business license or inspection. And there’s no extra charge for “cleaning fee” – what happens if you refuse to pay it, does the room not get sanitized?
At a real, legal bed and breakfast business (you can tell if it’s a business by its commercial website ending in dotcom, public street address and conspicuously placed business licenses by the front entrance), you can rest assured it has been cleaned, sanitized and ready for the traveling public.
Just think about it. The President of the business lives under the same roof. He/she wants it to be clean to the highest standard. The owners of the business have a livelihood to lose along with their license, if it’s not deemed clean and safe. Owning a business is not the same as wanting to make an extra $100 on a weekend.
So nowadays when everyone appears to be concerned about not being in large hotels where there are hundreds of people (there are also hundreds of people at Walmart), smaller lodging establishments seem to be a better idea. Just make sure it’s a proper business with hygiene standards to uphold, or you could be just saving a dollar and end up spending a whole lot more in the long run.
Stay at a legal bed and breakfast business! It’s sanitized every day, and that cleaning is included in the price (along with the breakfast, free beverages, free parking, free WIFI and more), no extra fees added on!
